Gry Winther is an award-winning Norwegian journalist, format creator, independent documentary filmmaker, and a pioneer of the factual entertainment genre. Gry is also a producer/show runner who has covered international news and current affairs for more than twenty five years.
Gry created the format “Dining with the Enemy” (executive produced / show ran eight episodes) for TV2 Norway. Received the AIB International Award for Best Special Programming, two Norwegian Emmy nominations, chosen by INPUT International as one of the most innovative shows; sold to TV5 Canada and U.S.; consulted for Canada; show ran thirteen episodes of the original format of Dining with the Enemy for Travel Channel called “Breaking Borders.”
Gry has interviewed many notable people including Shirin Ebadi, Yassir Arafat, Shimon Peres, Karl Rove, Mohammad Khatami and Aung San Suu Kyi. In addition to twenty one episodes of Dining with the Enemy / Breaking Borders, all shot in conflict zones, Gry has made thirteen documentaries for major networks in Norway and Al Jazeera International, and has been a show runner for multiple factual based TV-series.
